Lucy Lawless‘ acting and musical career, she is also a notable humanitarian. One of Lawless’ favorite charities is the  Starship Foundation, the charity arm of the Starship Children’s Health Hospital which is part of the Auckland District Health Board.
What Starship Foundation Does
The foundation is set-up to provide additional equipment, support and help to staff, patients, and families.  She devotes much time and energy to fund raising for the organization. According to the website, the aims of the Starship Foundation are defined as:
Services are provided in in-patient, out-patient, day-stay and community settings, including the Community Child Health and Disability Service, Safekids and Pediatric Home Care. Outpatient clinics for the Auckland region are conducted in Starship, Tamaki, West Auckland and the North Shore. Approximately 45 Outreach Clinics are provided by Medical Services in a variety of localities throughout the country.
The pediatric specialty teams include nurse specialists who provide nursing expertise within each specialty. Many other patients are treated in outreach services, both out-patient and day surgery. Starship specialists travel to other hospitals to provide outreach services. Starship is a major teaching centre. It aims to lead the nation in pediatric training and research.”

A long-time favourite of the gay and lesbian community, Lawless is a strong supporter of equal rights for all of humanity and she is active in her desire to rid the world of hate, prejudice, and discrimination, aided by her many loyal fans. Lawless firmly states:
