Bette Midler    December 1, 1945  63 “Group conformity scares the pants off me because it’s so often a prelude to cruelty towards anyone who doesn’t want to–or can’t–join the Big Parade.”
Our Why: She can replant a forest and kick the butt of the socially unconscious and in the same breath remind people to pull that bug out of their ass before it bites ’em.     For more Bette, Click Here, it’s funny!
Bjorn Borg
6 June 1956

“My greatest point is my persistence. I never give up in a match. However down I am, I fight until the last ball. My list of matches shows that I have turned a great many so-called irretrievable defeats into victories.”
Our Why: Determination, passion, and maturity look great on Bjorn.  Many of us learned what Love on the court was due to his intensity; we tuned and were turned on to a new world.  We stayed right there with him.
Bobbi Brown
April 14, 1957  52
“I’ve learned that it’s not about looking young for your age–it’s about looking great for your age.”
Our Why: Not only does she help us Boomers age gracefully, she devotes much time to the younger ones with her Dress for Success Jane Addams High School for Academic Careers program.   For more Bobbi, Click Here.
Bob Geldof
October 5, 1951  57
“Music is something I must do, business is something I need to do, and Africa is something I have to do. That’s the way it breaks down in my life.”
Our Why: Great music, wonderful humanitarian, and sharp man.
Bonnie Raitt    November 8, 1949  59 “I would rather feel things in extreme than not at all.”
“Religion is for people who are scared to go to hell. Spirituality is for people who have already been there.”         For more Bonnie, Click Here.
Our Why: She’s our leading lady reminding us of Love, the Lord, and Cool Rain.  Plus, she’s so good, she makes her guitar croon with her.  Bonnie Rocks!
Brad Pitt
December 18, 1963  45
“I believe you make your day. You make your life. So much of it is all perception and this is the form that I built for myself. I have to accept it and work within those compounds; and it’s up to me.”
Our Why: Now, do we really need to explain why?
Brooke Shields
May 31, 1965 44
“Don’t waste a minute not being happy. If one window closes, run to the next window–or break down a door.”
Our Why: Kind, great comic actress, generous, with a great head on her shoulders.  This beautiful Boomer grew up gracefully and continues in grace.  She’s impressive, in that she speaks out on child nudity in movies.  Finally, someone sticking-up for children in the film industry.
Cal Ripken
August 24, 1960

“The last thing you want to do is go down in the history of All-Star game competition as the only injury (his nose was broken by Roberto Hernandez) sustained during the team picture.”

Our Why: He can bat those beautiful blues at us anytime.
Carol Bayer Sager
August 27, 1947

“I feel very blessed for the life I have been given. I doubt I will ever be able to give back as much as what has been given to me.  When I can, I try to write songs today that have a spiritual base.  When I am really lucky, my songs will touch the hearts and souls of people who hear them and hopefully though music our world can begin to change for the better.”
Our Why: She has written so many classic songs, making it apparent she must have direct access to a Higher Power to be so prolific.
Carl Lumbly
August 14, 1951   56
“Obviously, as people, we’re sometimes called upon to represent things, and we may have questions within ourselves about how we feel. It may not be as black and white in our minds as it has to be in our presentation. But that’s the fun of being human.”
Our Why: Looks, skill, talent, and he’s Boomer Hot in black rubber!
