Passionate, Funny, and Editor

Believe my flexibility and interest in many different subjects’ stems from living in so many different places. It was a Minnesota upbringing between the city to the country, to Florida, Texas, and currently, California.

Writing, photographing, interviewing people and hearing their stories, quotes, great jokes, and working on this magazine are a few of my passions. The things that make my heart sing.

My parents, my fiancé, and my aunt Joanie have an incredible sense of humor. It is my belief that is where my humor was developed and kept intact.  It is so good to laugh and I look for an opportunity to have a good laugh each and every day.

My Gorgeous Children

Mothering four gorgeous children–all of who are very talented and gifted, of course, has been a joy, most days.  And, being an anal retentive person, it is no surprise their birth order is girl-boy-girl-boy.

Writings Always Leaked Out

Always. As a kid, my favorites to write to were my grams and my aunt Ruby, who was like another gram to me. They used to say my destiny was to grow up to be a writer because my writing was so humorous.  My classmates thought my fate was to be a comedian.  Guess that’s where Emily Browne comes in.

Well, at the young age of…well, let’s just say at a young age, after three different careers, my voice was found again in the pen, well…keyboard.

Before that, for years, had a daily date with my prayer journal each night before retiring–guess the writing had to leak out somewhere.

Pre-Cursers to Living Life…Boomer Style

Entrepreneurialism runs in my family background and started with me at the age of ten or eleven-years-old. Selling night crawlers to the resort fishermen, cleaning cabins for the resort next door, babysitting for resort customers, picking rock, and bailing hay…that was what life in the country offered for the entrepreneurial spirit. For our last class reunion, a friend of mine got together with me and we created a treasure hunt for our classmates. We put our heads together and went through the list of businesses our classmates parents had in order to find and bring back pieces of our past from those businesses. We realized 98 percent of our parents were self-employed. So, for us, entrepreneurialism came naturally.

My first career was in the beauty industry with four salons under my belt.  It was a great time–my clients were incredible. They were funny, smart, talented, incredible women and men.

Upon my move to California, my parents started a nutritional marketing company with me. We had a wonderful time doing it together and learned a lot about nutrition and health.

Then, a car accident pretty much immobilized me for several months.

College

It never occurred to me as a kid to go to college. My two daughters’ and my oldest son were all going to college; it was they who inspired me that college was a possibility for me.  What a surprise.  Didn’t even know how one would go about getting into college. The children showed me how to do it.

It was funny, all four of my children had home work along with me and there were a few times they had to help me with mine.

Photography Started Out as a Real B—h

For one of the electives decided a photography class would be fun. It was a b—h getting through it.  Had no clue how technical it was.  Everything that could go wrong did go wrong.  It wasn’t until the last week of the semester that my work actually looked okay, well…a tiny bit okay.  Not one to give up decided to take the summer photography class to gain on the small skill acquired.  It wasn’t long and my major changed from Interior Design to Professional Photography and Journalism.

Getting behind the camera makes everything melt away.  Hours pass with no idea of the time.  It is the same with writing for me, too.  And, it is a natural high finishing a story.

This passion and love is how Living Life…Boomer Style Magazine (lovingly called Boomer Style) came to be.

Embraces the Incredible Gifts of Life

The magazine embodies many of the incredible things life offers the baby boomers’ of the world.

It shows the good in humankind as well as humor, grace, inspirations and goodwill.  And, in doing so, hopefully inspires insights or good laughs, empowering someone’s day to be a better with a good laugh or an interesting person or antidote.

As for the team of Boomer Style, they are loved as my extended family. They are an incredible group of people.

Thank you for a concise post that manages to always be informative and
exceptional at once. Bravo!!! I recently had to visit your website.
Fantastic! I once purchased a book from the local store that covers
the same thing in this article. Yet I found yours much easier to understand, especially for the elderly person as i am.
I’ll be sharing this with my friends as well as family. Today I’ve learned some things from you.
